The remedy VITAMIN B12 SANUM is made from cyanocobalamin. Since Vitamin B12 is only found in animal foods, vegetarians and especially vegans, often suffer from very low levels of Vitamin B12 in the blood. Vegetarians and vegans should therefore take Vitamin B12 as a supplement to prevent Vitamin B12 deficiency symptoms. Vitamin B12 is important for cell renewal and healthy nerves. Neurological disorders can occur as a result of Vitamin B12 deficiency, and Vitamin B12 deficiency often also leads to folic acid deficiency, which should be avoided, especially during pregnancy.

For the treatment of Vitamin B12 deficiency caused, for example, by unfavorable dietary habits (for example, fast food and convenience foods), absorption disorders in older age, a strict vegetarian or vegan diet, or certain intestinal diseases. A Vitamin B12 deficiency can also be triggered by pronounced absorption disorders, e.g. as a result of gastritis or after removal of the small intestine, in Crohn's disease, diverticulosis, fish tapeworm infestation, congenital Vitamin B12 transport disorders and the so-called blind-loop syndrome (decrease in Vitamin B12 storage in the liver).

It belongs to the remedies of SYSTEM-REGULATION within the elements of SANUM therapy.
Indikation
Vitamin B12 deficiency:
Vitamins are essential substances that the body cannot produce itself. That is why vitamins must be taken in with food. They are found in a wide variety of foods, and some vitamins are water-soluble (B Vitamins, Vitamin C), while others are fat-soluble (Vitamins A, D, E). The B Vitamins are involved in many metabolic processes, is also called cobalamin and is important for cell growth, the formation of red blood cells and the nervous system, among other things. Vitamin B12 is found almost exclusively in animal foods, such as meat, fish, milk and eggs. Plants contain virtually no Vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 is absorbed in the small intestine, but only if a certain protein (intrinsic factor) has previously bound to Vitamin B12. The body is able to store Vitamin B12 up to a certain level. Nevertheless, a regular supply is essential for survival. In the case of Vitamin B12 deficiency, patients show symptoms such as anemia, fatigue, tingling in the hands and feet, paralysis, memory disorders and depression. With a balanced diet, there is no risk of Vitamin B12 deficiency. However, there are several circumstances that can lead to deficiency, such as inflammatory bowel disease, intrinsic factor deficiency (type A gastritis), and various medications. This is because some medications interfere with the absorption of Vitamin B12, such as metformin (diabetes mellitus) and some proton pump inhibitors. Especially vegans, but also vegetarians who eat little dairy products and fish are at risk of developing a Vitamin B12 deficiency.

Indikation
VITAMIN B12 SANUM is used for a Vitamin B12 deficiency which cannot be resolved by dietary measures.

Vitamin B12 deficiency can manifest in the following disorders:
> hyperchromic macrocytic megaloblastic anemia (pernicious anaemia, Biermer's anemia, Addison's anemia; these are maturation disorders of erythrocytes)
> spinal cord damage

Laboratory-diagnosed Vitamin B12 deficiency may occur with:
> years of malnutrition (e.g., from a strict vegetarian diet)
> malabsorption (insufficient intestinal absorption of Vitamin B12) caused by:
- insufficient production of intrinsic factor (a protein which is produced by the gastric mucosa and is necessary for absorption of Vitamin B12)
- diseases in the terminal section of the ileum (part of the small intestine), e.g. sprue
- fish tapeworm infestation or
- blind-loop syndrome (changes of small intestine after abdominal surgery)
> congenital vitamin B12 transport disorders
